Los Angeles Solar

With abundant sunlight and serious air quality issues, the city of Los Angeles is ripe for solar power development. In 2020, when Los Angeles residents need to plug in their electric cars for their daily commute, they’ll be happy to be producing their own power through their rooftop solar system.

The solar incentive program by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), in combination with federal rebates and the California Solar Initiative, can offset a substantial portion the cost of solar panels for a Los Angeles resident. LADWP’s solar incentive program has an annual budget of $33 million and is part of LADWP’s goal to obtain half of its energy from renewable sources by 2010.

Robert Rozanski, acting general manager, states that “The LADWP believes in the importance of a clean energy future and is proud to have been an early supporter of solar energy. Over the past seven years the LADWP has committed over $90 million to solar energy and with the expansion of our program, we continue to demonstrate our leadership and support of the importance of solar power.”
